Emmanuel is one of very few American drivers
racing in Europe this year. He’s used to driving
high-powered saloons, having raced a variety of cars in
the ‘Michelin One Lap of America’ three times
– an event formerly known as the Cannonball Run
– and finishing 4th (out of 120 starters) in 2000.
Emmanuel has won championships in karts, broken lap records
in a Dodge Viper GTS and raced Formula Fords in the US
and Canada. Last year he finished 11th (out of 30) in
the International Formula Palmer Audi series, despite
missing the final two races of the season when he returned
to the States after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.
He was successfully treated at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation,
and will use his participation in the 2004 SEAT Cupra
Championship to raise awareness of testicular cancer and
money for the Testicular Cancer Resource Centre and the
US-based Friends for Cures charity.
