JON LANCELEY

Car number: 22
From: Tibberton, Gloucestershire
Date of birth: 4 February 1982
Place of birth: Gloucester
Age: 22
Jon's father got him interested in motorsport and at 14 he began to race karts. It was his performance in the 125cc gearbox series that landed him a one-off invitation to race a Formula Renault at Pembrey in July 1999, where he finished 2nd. This looked set to launch his single seater career, but one week later Jon contracted meningitis and spent the next two weeks in intensive care. On a limited budget, Jon raced for TA Motorsport in the 2000 Formula Ford series and then dominated the Southern Counties Formula Ford series in 2001 with the Peter Chambers Motor Racing team, winning the title with 8 wins and finishing all 13 races on the podium. A sponsor pulled out on the eve of his 2003 season and his racing last year was sadly curtailed when his father died on Jon's 21st birthday. A chance meeting with Beacon Sports Management sees him contest the SEAT Cupra Championship in 2004 - his first saloon car series and the first time Jon has been able to race on a level playing field. Jon is sponsored by Horsebridge Network Systems.
