| Emmet began racing karts in 1995 and from 1997-2000 raced for Ireland in the Five Nations Karting Cup. In 1998 he led the All Ireland Championship and finished 2nd in both that and the Formula A Championship - scoring 4 wins along the way. Having been a works Irish PCR kart driver, Emmet left Ireland to study Motorsport Engineering at Swansea University before joining Palmer Sport as a high performance car driving instructor in 2000. That led to him contesting the 2000 Formula Palmer Audi Winter Championship. His pace attracted the attention of Murray Racing, and in 2001 Emmet helped it become one of the few non-works teams to win the British Formula Ford title. Having finished 5th in the 2002 Formula Ireland Championship, Emmet's taste for touring cars begun when he tested a Clio Cup car at Donington and he joined the 2003 SEAT Cupra Championship - finishing 10th. Emmet is sponsored by DABL Medical Management Systems. |
