| Gavin won the Irish Fiat Uno Championship
in his first season of saloon car racing in 1998, recording
12 race wins, 7 poles and 2 lap records. The following year
he moved into single seaters, scoring 2 wins, 2 poles and
finishing 3rd in the Irish Formula Opel Championship. Having
finished 9th in the 2000 British Formula Renault Championship,
he stopped racing in 2001 due to family commitments, but
returned in 2002 to record 6 podiums and 2 fastest laps
in the British F3 Scholarship Championship. In 2003 Gavin
contested the Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship, winning
a round at Rockingham in front of a record 44,000 crowd.
He was in contention for the title at the final race weekend
at Thruxton, but 3 DNFs in a series in which all scores
count made his 4th place at the end of the season all the
more remarkable. Gavin is sponsored by Europcar, White Bishop
