| Tom's farm upbringing saw him start driving cars around fields at the age of 4. Aged 10 he began racing stock cars and he moved into autograss racing at 14, in which he won the British Championship in Class 1 and the National Championship for Juniors. In 2000 he made his circuit racing debut and became T-Car Champion by winning 7 out of 8 races. In 2001 he finished 14th in the National Saloon Car Championship and the following year he moved into the BTCC, driving a BMW in the Production Car series. Last year he may have been Production Car BTC Champion, but despite winning all the races he finished, mechanical problems with his Peugeot 307 witnessed too many DNFs and he eventually finished 4th. Tom is also a keen rally driver. Having contested the Peugeot 206 Winter Cup in 2003, he is mixing SEAT Cupra Championship racing with the 206 Super Cup rally series this year.
